A parked domain address is one which is taken, yet it is not connected to some other service - web or e mail hosting. Essentially, this kind of domain name won't load any actual content in case you type it within an Internet browser, but nobody else can take it as you've already registered it and you are its owner. The benefit of getting a domain name and parking it afterwards is the fact that you’re able to keep it and not stress that somebody else may register it in the meantime if, for example, the website for it is not ready yet. You could set a temporary Under Construction page for a parked domain while you are working on the web site, or forward it to some other web address - temporarily or permanently. The latter option can be employed if you have already registered domain.com, for example, and you acquire domain.net and domain.org, so that you can protect a brand name or a trademark. In this case, the .net and .org domain names can be parked and forwarded to the .com because you don't need different sites for them.
